The Timberline | Hand-Forged Damascus Hunting Knife
Total Length: 8.75”
Total Blade Length: 4.7”
Grip Width: 0.6”
Rugged by design. Refined by craftsmanship. Built to stand apart.
Introducing The Timberline, a one-of-a-kind hunting knife that brings together traditional blacksmithing, bold geometric woodworking, and an unapologetically rugged finish.
Expertly forged by Iron Beak Forge, the blade features a layered combination of 1080 high-carbon steel, 15N20 steel, and nickel, creating an intricate Damascus pattern filled with flowing lines and dramatic contrast.
Unlike traditional Damascus blades polished to a smooth finish, The Timberline features an intentionally deep etch, producing a distressed, pitted surface that emphasizes the character of the forged steel. The result is a rugged, weathered appearance that complements the blade's aggressive profile and handcrafted origins.
The handle is equally distinctive, featuring a geometric segmented design combining blonde spalted maple and green-dyed redwood. The contrasting natural wood tones and rich green accents create striking angles and flowing patterns, ensuring that no two sections look quite alike.
Completing the design are three decorative mosaic pins, each representing a different element of its craftsmanship and character:
Lone Star: A tribute to Texas heritage and independent craftsmanship.
Salty Dog Logo: Our signature mark of handcrafted quality.
Deer Head: A nod to the outdoors and the hunting traditions that inspired this blade.

Where Rugged Meets Refined
Every element of The Timberline was chosen to create contrast. The deeply etched steel delivers a raw, weathered appearance, while the carefully segmented wooden handle introduces precision, color, and natural beauty.
This isn't a mass-produced knife with a printed pattern or a factory-finished handle. It is the result of skilled forging, detailed woodworking, and intentional design choices that make the finished piece truly individual.
Forged with character. Finished with purpose. Proudly presented by Salty Dog Lumber Company.
⚠️ Carbon Steel Care & Maintenance
This knife is made from high-carbon steel and requires routine care to prevent rust and corrosion. Carbon steel is not stainless steel and may naturally develop a patina over time.
Keep the blade clean, completely dry, and lightly oiled when not in use. Do not leave the knife wet, submerged in water, or exposed to prolonged moisture. After use, clean and thoroughly dry the blade before returning it to its sheath. Apply a thin coat of appropriate knife or mineral oil regularly, particularly before storage.
Rust, corrosion, staining, or patina that develops after delivery as a result of use, moisture exposure, storage conditions, or lack of maintenance is not considered a manufacturing defect and is not covered by our warranty.
Continued care and maintenance after delivery are the responsibility of the owner.
