Genuine Aletai Iron Meteorite Full Size 1911 Grips
Some materials are rare. This one traveled through space before it ever reached our shop. ☄️
This extraordinary set of full-size 1911 grips is handcrafted from genuine Aletai iron meteorite, creating one of the rarest and most distinctive sets we've ever offered.
Rather than trying to make the material perfectly uniform, we wanted to preserve and showcase what makes genuine meteorite so remarkable. Throughout the surface you'll find its unique metallic structure, natural markings, variations, and voids, each one belonging to this individual piece of meteorite.
Those characteristics are not defects. They're part of the material's natural structure and history, and they're precisely what ensures another set can never be identical.
Every contour reveals something different. Changes in lighting and viewing angle bring out variations within the metal that simply aren't present in conventional grip materials.
And because these are made completely by hand, we were able to work with the individual character of this particular piece rather than forcing an exceptionally rare material into a mass-produced mold.
The result is more than an unusual set of grips. It's a genuinely one-of-a-kind collector piece made from material unlike anything else in our shop.
Details:
Genuine Aletai iron meteorite
Full-size 1911 configuration
100% handcrafted
Naturally occurring structure and markings
Natural voids and variations preserved within the material
No two pieces of meteorite are identical
Each set is completely one of a kind
Extremely limited, premium material
Designed to showcase the meteorite rather than disguise its natural characteristics
You can reproduce a design. You can't reproduce the piece of meteorite it came from.
Important Material Note
I would actually put this directly beneath the main description because it protects you from the inevitable customer who receives it and decides a natural void is a “flaw”:
PLEASE NOTE: Genuine meteorite is a naturally occurring material. Voids, pits, inclusions, color variations, structural markings and other irregularities are inherent characteristics of the meteorite and are not considered defects. The exact set pictured is unique and cannot be duplicated and is the EXACT set that will be shipped to you after purchase.
Meteorite has occasionally been used for 1911 grips by a very small number of specialty makers, but these sets are extraordinarily uncommon. At the time this set was completed, we could not locate another genuine Aletai iron meteorite 1911 grip set currently being offered for sale.
Combined with the naturally unique structure of the meteorite itself, this is a piece we may never be able to reproduce.
IMPORTANT CARE INFORMATION:
Aletai iron meteorite is an iron-rich material and should be cared for similarly to carbon Damascus steel. Keep the grips clean, dry, and properly oiled to help protect them from oxidation and corrosion.
After handling, exposure to moisture, or routine cleaning, thoroughly dry the grips and apply a light protective coat of appropriate oil. Do not allow water, cleaning solutions, sweat, or other moisture to remain on the surface for extended periods.
Rust, oxidation, discoloration, or corrosion resulting from improper care, moisture exposure, or lack of maintenance is not considered a material defect and is not covered under our warranty.
With proper care and regular maintenance, your meteorite grips can retain their distinctive finish and character for years to come.
