Handmade Copper & Nickel Damascus Skinner – Dichrolam & Triple-Dyed Maple Handle

$349.99

Total Length: 6.25”

Blade Length: 2.4”

Grip Thickness: 0.7”

This one-of-a-kind handmade skinner combines complex layered steel with a segmented handle built from three dramatically different materials, creating a knife that changes character from blade to butt.

The blade was produced by Iron Beak Forge with a layered 1080 steel and nickel core surrounded by a 1080 steel and copper-layer jacket. The construction creates distinct patterns within the blade, with bright layered lines through the core contrasted by warm copper running through the outer jacket. Its compact skinner profile features a broad belly and upswept tip suited to the traditional shape and function of a skinning knife.

The handle begins with a striking bolster section of spalted curly maple triple-dyed in pink, purple, and blue. The natural curl and spalting remain visible beneath the color, creating depth rather than a flat dyed surface.

At the center is a segment of Dichrolam cast in clear resin. Its highly reflective, multidimensional pattern shifts in appearance as the knife moves and catches the light, creating a brilliant transition between the two natural wood sections.

The handle finishes with black-dyed maple burl, bringing the palette back into deep, earthy tones while preserving the swirling figure and character of the burl.

Three decorative pins complete the handle, including two mosaic pins and a Lone Star pin, adding another layer of fine detail without overwhelming the materials surrounding them.

The finished knife includes a fitted Kydex sheath.

⚠️ Carbon Steel Care & Maintenance

This knife is made from high-carbon steel and requires routine care to prevent rust and corrosion. Carbon steel is not stainless steel and may naturally develop a patina over time.

Keep the blade clean, completely dry, and lightly oiled when not in use. Do not leave the knife wet, submerged in water, or exposed to prolonged moisture. After use, clean and thoroughly dry the blade before returning it to its sheath. Apply a thin coat of appropriate knife or mineral oil regularly, particularly before storage.

Rust, corrosion, staining, or patina that develops after delivery as a result of use, moisture exposure, storage conditions, or lack of maintenance is not considered a manufacturing defect and is not covered by our warranty.

Continued care and maintenance after delivery are the responsibility of the owner.
